Disability

We are committed to providing person-centred, responsive support to people with learning disabilities, following an ‘Active Support’ approach that helps people gain skills, confidence and control of their lives.

Our staff teams are all trained in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to understand people better and give the right support at the right

We provide a range of  disability support services such as:

Supported Accommodation:

Our supported living services enable people to live as independently as possible in a home of their own or one of our accommodation. This usually means a small group of people sharing a house with their own secure tenancy, with care and support tailored to meet their individual needs.

One of our priorities is to make sure each person we support is matched with staff they can relate to, so we involve them in the selection process in a way they feel comfortable.

Our trained staff will work with our client to ensure steps to living independently. We also understand that you may need help with some things and might want to understand and manage your choices better; whatever independent living choice you make, we will support you with it.

Transition Services:

The transition into adulthood for a young person with a learning disability is a big step – and one of our specialist areas. We help each young person find accommodation that meets their individual needs and tailor our services around them as they move into adulthood. Using a range of support strategies, we help young people increase their independence, self care and daily living skills. We work with them to build self-esteem and confidence so that they have more choice and control over their own lives, as well as helping them fulfil goals and aspirations.

Short Breaks, Respite and Day Services, and Activities

Everyone enjoys a short break or a day out from time to time. At Saint Aims Care we have a range of services to provide care and support on a short-term basis for people with learning disabilities, including those with complex needs and physical disabilities.

When people join us for a break – even if it’s just for a day – there are plenty of fun and stimulating activities for them to choose from and family and carers can be sure that those we look after are safe and well cared for.

We support people who have a wide range of learning disabilities and autism to live the life they choose, gain increased independence and achieve their goals and ambitions.

Autism

Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that typically appears during early childhood and can impact a person’s social and communication skills. Every person we support and care for has different needs and levels of support. Autism itself is complicated and can be made more so as it may appear in combination with learning and other disabilities.

What is complex autism?

For many, autism is their sole diagnosis. For others, autism complicates a larger picture that includes learning or physical disabilities, and mental or physical ill-health.

We support many people with various manifestations of autism, learning and physical disabilities. We are able to provide specialist autism services to people all over the UK and work with them to lead a long, fulfilling life.

In particular, we pride ourselves on our skills supporting people who do not use speech to communicate, whose behavioural triggers are varied, and whose behavioural responses can range from mild to severe. We support people whose lives have been limited by reduced opportunities, who have faced locked doors and restraint.

We approach supporting a person with complex autism in fundamentally the same way as anybody else. We believe in them and are ambitious for them. We deliver specialist autism services informed by behaviour support insights.

We work in close partnership with commissioners and families to establish the right goals, recruit and train the right support teams, and provide suitable support. We want the people we help to live full, meaningful lives and to thrive.
